Welcome to the Monkey House

One of my favorite shots is from the Philadelphia Zoo. I was there one January morning a few years ago and a woman walks in and sits by the window with a children's book. As soon as the Gorilla saw the woman had a book she came over to the window and sat down so the woman could read the book to her.

The Light was just right for this shot. Early morning on a Gettysburg pond with the ducks bathed in the misty light of the sunrise!!

Philadelphia is a Fantastic Place to Photograph (part 1)

   Having lived in Philadelphia and it's the western suburbs for most of my life I have gotten to know it's nooks and crannies intimately with my camera. Philadephia is one of the most photogenic cities with it's miles of parks and rich American history. It seems there are statues everywhere and some of the most beautiful architecture this side of Rome!







   Philadelphia has a large park system named Fairmount Park that stretches all over the city. One of the most beautiful areas is along the Wissahickon Creek in the North West section between Roxborough and Chestnut Hill. This is my favorite area to get back to nature!! The Valley Green Inn is just beautiful.












 Along with it's beautiful vistas of the Wissahickon Creek there are miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Fobidden Drive is the main trail and runs from Ridge Avenue in the East falls / Manayunk area to the to North Wester Avenue in Chestnut Hill near Whitemarsh Township.

My Favorite Place to Photograph Sunsets - Crystal Beach Florida

I used to live on the Gulf Coast of Florida in Dunedin near Clearwater.  Dunedin is a lovely little place with a small town atmosphere.Near Dunedin in Palm Harbor is the quiet little neighborhood "Crystal Beach" which is my favorite place to photograph the sunset. Every night at sunset it seems that the whole community comes down to the tiny little beach on the flats of the Gulf of Mexico. Everyone brings wine or beer and it is like a little community party. People bring guitars and sing or bring their dogs to play in the water and children are running around everywhere. On the pier couples young and old hold each other while staring at the most beautiful sunsets God can create. While my wife has never been to this area I have told her when we move to Florida this is where I want to live!!

My Journey to Photographer

Back in 2009, I casually told my wife that I wanted to buy a Camera and start selling pictures on the internet. My wife rolled her eyes thought to herself where does he come up with this stuff! Now mind you that I never had taken many good photos at this point, just a few nice sunsets from when I lived in Florida. Eventually my wife relented and bought me a camera for my birthday.

 I did not join Fine Art America until March of 2010 but when I got my first sale in May I was hooked. Here it is almost 2014 and I have been in Architectural Record Magazine, on a Book Cover for University of Penn Press and I have an image being featured as wallpaper on the DIY TV show Man Caves. I have Art hanging in Penn State University, The Sierra Hotel and soon to be the centerpiece artwork hanging in the main lobby of Chestnut Hill Hospital (Picture above) in Philadelphia. I have works hanging in hundreds of homes having sold nearly a thousand images since that 1st sale in in 2010. My portfolio has grown to around 5000 images on http://www.BillCannon.net with the majority Philadelphia area shots.

  My wife and I love to travel and we have been to New York, New Orleans, Key West, Tampa Bay, Vermont, New jersey, Maryland, West Virgina, Washington DC, The Carolinas, Virginia, Cancun and soon to Ireland. Pat has also been to Italy and California and has taken some stunning pictures I had a great year in 2013 and I am very thankful to all my customers!!
